Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

If you would like critique on an artwork of yours, post a link and I'd be happy to do so : )  (Conditions: If I have time. If I'm even in the U.S...)

I got the idea from ~brocko18 who happens to be trying out tribal and is pretty good at it! (check it out!) I'm flattered that people have actually thought my tribal tutorial to be helpful. If I could inspire just one person to pick up a pencil, that would make my day!

But yeah, I don't do the 'DA Critique' thing anymore (I've only written one using that) because I don't like limiting myself with that star rating system.

I won't RATE your art.
How could I possibly rate any art other than my own?

I WILL honestly tell you what I think of it, what I think can be improved etc.  The words "I think" imply that it is all opinion, which I think is what critiques are anyways. Glorified (and hopefully helpful) opinions.

Yup.  If you want, link me to your tribals, photos, sketches......
PREFERABLY NOT anime/manga style drawings. Nothing wrong with them; just I personally don't have much experience in that subject matter so I won't have much to say. It would be like asking me about cars.

But otherwise, I should be the one thanking the people who ask for critiques, because I am honored that you would like to hear my opinion. I hope what I have to say is helpful : )

Oo, and one more thing.  I apologize if I don't +watch you.  In the three years or more I've been on DA I only watch.... :checks:... 2 people at the moment. There are SO MANY artists with eye popping art out there and it is always nice to stumble upon their works every now and then; but even if you trained under Picasso and have ONEBAJILLION pageviews, chances are I still wouldn't be interested in watching you.
So please don't take it personally.
